James Wistar Metcalfe papers, 1841-1852 [manuscript].

The collection includes a diary and correspondence relating to Metcalfe. The first half of the diary documents Metcalfe's college career at Indiana University in Bloomington, Ind. The second half is a farm journal kept while Metcalfe was managing proerty at Bourbon Plantation, near Natchez, Miss., for his father. Also included is a letter from Metcalfe's brother describing Venice while on a European trip.
